What's Your Favorite Virus Movie?

All across the world Coronavirus is becoming an increasingly serious issue. With no true vaccination and schools and entire cities closings many individuals are reduced to self quarantining and practicing social distancing. While this is an introvert's dream, for many adjusting to this new normal is easier said than done. Social media is holding the world together by its seems, and many are turning to streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu as a pastime. Although Coronavirus is no laughing matter, current events do bring to mind the slew of movies over the years that have revolved around the subject of a virus spreading uncontrollably. While there are too many to name, there are two franchises that tie for my favorite.

1. Cabin Fever 1&2

This franchise perfectly illustrates how quickly a virus can spread. While the original limits the virus to a small group, the sequel raises the stakes as a small town and it's high school is completely decimated by a virus the residents aren't even aware of. Throughout the movie the movie spreads from acts as simple of drinking the towns local bottled water or causally hooking up in the bathroom. If you're looking for something relatable and completely mentally terrifying then I highly recommend these movies, but more so the sequel.

My second favorite comes in by default because it's based on one of my favorite video games. Resident Evil branches more into the science fiction category, and if you haven't seen any of the films it springboards from a man made virus which reanimates the dead. This franchise offers a great mix of zombies, guns and action and as a bonus is one of the few successful female led franchises. Many users on Twitter have made the comparison jokingly and if this virus does somehow create zombies Resident Evil has taught me all I need to know.

Netflix especially has a healthy selection of virus focused films to choose from. What are some of your favorites?
